Season for Paddy Farmers (26 MAY, 2009)

Myanmar covers an area of 671,000 sq-km and the climate is dry and wet monsoon climate. The south-west monsoon starts between mid-May and mid-June, bringing frequent rains that continue into late October. Due to several storms it rained earlier in Myanmar. Hence farmers preparing to cultivate their paddy land in all over the country. The most of the farmers are using their conventional method of cultivation by draft cattle instead of tractors. The nursery has already grown and plantations are being preparing in time. Since the seedling from the nursery has to transplant to the plantation within 25-30 days farmers are working hard to finish-up the plantation.
If you ride along the countryside you can see the farmers working in the field.

Preparing Period for Schooling Students (18 May, 09)

In Myanmar the schools are usually close in summer for 3 months. May is the last month of summer holidays for Myanmar State schools. All of Myanmar State Schools reopen on 1st June of every year. So, most parents are busy with preparations for the children. They are preparing for their children to attend the school at new school term by buying the necessary items such as school dress, bag, lunch box, water container, rain coat, umbrella, stationery, etc.
Therefore you can see people are crowding at the Market and shop of accessories for schooling students in this period.

Myanmar’s Mango Season (12 MAY, 09)

You can see mangoes abundantly everywhere in Myanmar since this is the peak yielding period of the Mango season. Mango is the seasonal fruit which bear only once in a year. Mango season starts from February, but at that beginning period it was very costly. There are several varieties of mangoes in Myanmar such as Aung Din, Sein-Ta-Lone, Shwe-Hin-Thar, Mya-Kyauk, Mandalay Yin-Gwe, etc. The famous mango is Mya-Kyauk, which are export quality with non-fibrous, smooth, flesh and sweet. Mandalay Yin-Gwe is the medium quality one with abundance and cheaper.
Together with mango - seasonal fruits such as mangosteens, rambutans, Myanma-grapes, apples, durians, etc. are also abundantly available in fruit market.

Air Mandalay Flight to Chiang Mai (6 May, 2009)

Air Mandalay’s both International and Domestic flights were temporarily stopped for overhauling the aircrafts since mid September 2008. Air Mandalay Domestic flights have already been started and International flights will be resuming to Chiang Mai from 2nd August, 2009 on every Friday and Sunday at 16:30 hours. Before it was flying to Chiang Mai 2 days a week, Thursday and Sunday. On Thursday, the flight was landed in Mandalay.
The existing flights will be only Direct flights, flying from Yangon-Chiang Mai-Yangon on every Friday and Sunday as per below schedule.
